Conductor Peter Rickett led Roberts and the orchestra through an almost flawless performance. The orchestra and piano blended beautifully, with neither dominating except where the composer intended it. Roberts’ technique is superb, and his interpretation of the music was fiery at times, tender and plaintive at times, in keeping with the spirit of the piece.
